Finishing Operators (1st Shift) - Plant 2

Function:

Do you enjoy working hands-on utilizing some of the best technology in the printing and packaging industry? Does accepting daily challenges and exceeding goals resonate with you? Belmark is currently seeking for:

Web-to-Print® Laminator Operator to be responsible for operating a solventless laminator at the highest efficiency possible while following standard operating procedures and work instructions to produce a high quality product.

Web-to-Print® Rewind Operator to run our world class equipment to produce a high quality product in a timely fashion for our customers. In this role, you will be responsible for Rewind labels from press rolls to smaller rolls according to customer specifications. Inspect labels for accepted quality and complete the appropriate paperwork. May also be required to bundle labels or tags, or fanfold labels.

Schedule:

  • 1st shift hours are from 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., Monday - Friday

Pay:

  • $21 - $23 per Hour. The hourly rate for this position is determined by the level of the role, relevant experience, and may incorporate shift differentials, ensuring fair compensation that reflects both expertise and responsibilities entailed.

What will I do in this role?

  • Responsible to follow all safety procedures as required by the role, and to nurture a food safety culture by adhering to all Safe Quality Foods requirements.
  • Responsible for complying with and following all standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Perform all job tasks utilizing required personal protective equipment and correct safety procedures.
  • Maintain quality, productivity and waste according to set standards.
  • Ensure product adhesive weight and appearance.
  • Maintain adhesives.
  • Ensure proper sleeve, tensions, machine alignment and settings on each job.
  • Web the laminator.
  • Clean the laminator.
  • Install sleeves and assist in installing rollers.
  • Install shafts in the turrets.
  • Perform routine laminator maintenance.
  • Keep work area and machine organized and clean.
  • Complete the necessary paperwork.
  • Verify proper ratio of adhesives.
  • Move stock to stage for next job(s).
  • Set up rewind machine.
  • Calculate the number of labels needed per roll or bundle.
  • Rewind labels according to the job instructions. Individual output must at least meet the set minimum operating standards.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Will have job duties specific to our Hazardous Waste Management Program for the proper disposal of spent solvents, waste inks and other designated waste products. Some of the responsibilities include the placement of waste solvents/inks in designated waste drums, labeling of waste drums and moving waste drums to designated storage locations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires education equivalent to two (2) years of high school.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to effectively utilize the English language.
  • Six (6) months experience setting up, operating and cleaning up a solventless laminator preferred.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow simple written and oral instructions.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of the position. May be required to work some overtime.
  • Ability to set up and operate a rewind machine using a ruler, calculator, Allen wrench and screw driver.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, decimals and fractions.
  • Ability to give, receive and analyze information.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Requires nearly constant concentration and attention to detail.
  • Ability to: stand and walk for 90% of work time; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl for 10% of work time.
  • Ability to: see clearly at 20 inches or less; see clearly at 20 feet or more; identify and distinguish colors; observe and area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point; judge distances and spatial relationships; and to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
  • Ability to: use hands for 100% of work time; reach above shoulders for 50% of work time; and use feet to operate machines for 30% of work time.
  • Ability to lift: 10 pounds or less 25% of work time; 25 pounds or less 30% of work time; 50 pounds or less 25% of work time; and may lift 100 pounds or less 5% of work time. (Example: lifting roll of material on and off the press approximately 6 ft.).
  • May lift 100 pounds or more.
  • May be required to use sense of smell.
