Folder Gluer Operator (1st Shift)

Department: Production
Location: De Pere, WI

Summary

Responsible for setup and operation of folder gluer machine-converts printed tag stock into a product sold to our customers for use as packaging components or cartons. Sequence of operations: (1) dispense tag stock onto conveyor; (2) apply adhesive; (3) fold tag stock on crease lines; (4) adhesive dies during final conveying; and (5) product inspected and packaged.

Schedule: 6:00AM - 2:00PM, Mon - Fri

Pay: $20.50 - 21.50/hr

Principle Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Read and comprehend job order instructions.
  • Locate tag stock, inspect and stage.
  • Setup and adjust the following:
    1. infeed system,
    2. conveying belt,
    3. conveying rollers,
    4. guide bars,
    5. glue applicator system, and
    6. exit belt system.
  • Troubleshoot all problem areas.
  • Inspect product quality.
  • Package into boxes.
  • Clean up machine and area.
  • Communicate job status with proper departments.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be a good problem solver.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow simple written and oral instructions.
  • Knowledge of and ability to speak the English language fluently.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of the position. May be required to work some overtime
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, decimals and fractions.
  • Ability to give, receive and analyze information.
  • Requires education equivalent to two (2) years of high school education.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Requires nearly constant concentration and attention to detail.
  • Ability to: see clearly at 20 inches or less; see clearly at 20 feet or more; identify and distinguish colors; observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point; judge distance and spatial relationships; and to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
  • Ability to: stand and walk for 90% of work time; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl for 10% of work time.
  • Ability to: use hands for 100% of work time; and reach above shoulders for 30% of work time; and use feet to operate machines for 30% of work time.
  • Ability to lift corrugated boxes that weigh up to 50 pounds at a rate of 60 boxes per hour.
  • Ability to grasp a 10 inch stack of blank cartons with both hands and transfer the stack from a conveyor table to a corrugated box at a rate of 20,000 cartons per hour.
  • Ability to grasp a 4 inch stack of blank cartons with both hands and transfer the stack from a pallet to a machine feed gate at a rate of 20,000 cartons per hour.
  • Ability to use screwdrivers, wrenches, hammers and pliers.
  • May be asked to lift up to 100 pounds or more.

Working Conditions:

  • Work near moving mechanical parts. Machines have several belt conveyors that move continuously when turned on-long hair must be constrained.
  • Nearly constant exposure to vibrations, noise and chemical odors.
