Color Technology Specialist

Department: Graphics-Color
Location: De Pere, WI

Summary

Responsible to assist with Graphics sales growth, margin, productivity and quality improvements through new process and technology implementation. Support a controlled, standardized practice for managing color from pre-press through print manufacturing. This includes but is not limited to managing press profiles, color monitor devices, proofing devices, and other equipment and processes. Assist in keeping the color management process in continual improvement mode.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Assisting with the development, maintenance and documentation of standardized color management practices across the organization.
  2. Support the research and development of emerging color management technology, including but not limited to: software, proofing and spectral measurement devices, flexographic printing plates, plate screening technology and plating curve development.
  3. Support training the Sales, Customer Service, Graphics, Quality and Production leadership teams on color management principles.
  4. Collaborate with the Color Technology Manager to initiate and maintain profile/proofing standards for use internally and with external prepress vendors.
  5. Work with internal leadership team to identify root cause and corrective action regarding color quality concerns.
  6. Involvement in ensuring graphics equipment is maintained and calibrated. Support color management hardware and software upgrades on all color management assets.
  7. May be required to obtain G7 Professional or Expert certification.
  8. Travel with sales representatives to customers' sites for training and gathering data as needed.
  9. Provide press approval support as needed.
  10. May be required to perform or assist with customer presentations or internal presentations (Level II Training).
  11. Responsible to follow all safety procedures as required by the role, and to nurture a food safety culture by adhering to all Safe Quality Foods requirements.
  12. May perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  1. Knowledge of color and prepress software including, but not limited to: GMG, Esko Color Pilot & Automation Engine, pressSIGN, Curve4 & i1Profiler.
  2. Knowledge of and the ability to effectively utilize the English language.
  3. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, decimals and fractions.
  4. Ability to operate a Mac computer.
  5. Demonstrate a constant continuous improvement mindset and ability to collaborate with various department leadership teams.
  6. Ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment.
  7. Ability to type accurately and neatly.
  8. Ability to meet and exceed deadlines.
  9. Regular attendance is an essential function of the position. May be required to work overtime.
  10. Ability to read, comprehend and follow detailed written and oral instructions.
  11. Must be able to communicate and answer questions in a professional and friendly manner.
  12. Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure.
  13. Ability to give, receive and analyze information.
  14. Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school.
  15. Ability to: stand for 25% of work time; walk 25% of work time; and sit for 50% of work time.
  16. Ability to reach above shoulders 30% of work time; and lift up to 25 pounds or less for 25% of work time.
  17. Ability to: see clearly at 20 inches or less; identify and distinguish colors; adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
  18. May require some overnight travel.
