Makeready Technician, 2nd Shift (PHX) Plant 4

Department: PS PHX-Prepress
Location: Phoenix, AZ

Schedule:

  • 2nd Shift
  • 2:00pm – 12:00am, Monday - Thursday

Pay:

  • $23.00 per hour starting pay
  • + $1.00 shift differential

Summary:
Ensure proper equipment and materials are at press. Follow press operator’s instructions to assist with press setup, press operation and press cleanup. Responsible for the overall appearance of the production area. Increased production efficiency should be the result of efforts.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Responsible to follow all safety procedures as required by the role, and to nurture a food safety culture by adhering to all Safe Quality Foods requirements.
  2. Ensure proper equipment and materials are at press, according to job instructions, prior to press setup.
  3. Follow press operator’s instructions (i.e. stacking sheeted product, refilling solvent bottles, changing rolls, cleaning ink stations, etc.) to assist with press setup, press operation and press cleanup.
  4. Responsible for the overall appearance of the production area (i.e. washing ink pans and doctor blades, throwing out garbage, sweeping the floor, etc.).
  5. Maintain supply levels at each press.
  6. May operate a press to backup press operator.
  7. May mix inks.
  8. May mount plates on cylinders.
  9. May bring stock from warehouse to press.
  10. May make plates.
  11. May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  12. Properly dispose of waste ink, spent solvents, and other designated waste according to hazardous waste handling guidelines

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  1. Ability to read, comprehend and follow simple written and oral instructions.
  2. Knowledge of the English language.
  3. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, decimals and fractions.
  4. Requires education equivalent to two (2) years of high school.
  5. Ability to meet deadlines. May be required to work some overtime.
  6. Requires nearly constant concentration and attention to detail.
  7. Ability to: stand and walk for 90% of work time; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl for 10% of work time.
  8. Ability to: see clearly at 20 inches or less; see clearly at 20 feet or more; identify and distinguish colors; observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point; judge distances and spatial relationships; and to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
  9. Ability to: use hands for 100% of work time (i.e. wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.); reach above shoulders for 50% of work time; and use feet to operate machines for 30% of work time.
  10. Ability to lift: 10 pounds or less 30% of work time; 25 pounds or less 30% of work time; 50 pounds or less 25% of work time; and greater than 50 pounds 15% of work time.
  11. May lift up to 100 pounds on occasion.
  12. May be required to use sense of smell.
