Lead Maintenance Technician (All Shifts) - Plant 3

Department: Maintenance
Location: De Pere, WI

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to be responsible or providing day-to-day leadership and technical support within the maintenance department. The Lead Maintenance Technician role ensures the effective assignment and execution of maintenance tasks, promoting a culture of safety and quality, initiating support of operational reliability through preventive and corrective maintenance. The Lead Technician acts as a liaison between maintenance personnel and supervisory leadership, fostering communication across shifts and supporting the professional development of the team. This position is critical to maintaining plant efficiency, minimizing downtime, and ensuring all maintenance activities align with safety and food quality standards.

Schedule:

  • AM Shift (1C & 1D) – 4:00am to 4:00pm, 3 days on, 4 days off
  • PM Shift (2C & 2D) – 4:00pm to 4:00am, 3 days on, 4 days off
  • Work 36 hours. Overtime after 36 hours worked. NOT A SWING SHIFT
  • Occasional overtime as needed.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Responsible to follow all safety procedures as required by the role, and to nurture a food safety culture by adhering to all Safe Quality Foods requirements.
  2. Direct the daily activities and project assignments of maintenance personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and timely task completion.
  3. Assign technicians to respond to maintenance service requests, prioritizing based on operational urgency and resource availability.
  4. Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to new maintenance team members to support skill development and team integration.
  5. Deliver daily status updates and operational reports to the Maintenance Supervisor, including any critical issues or progress highlights.
  6. Lead daily departmental meetings during shift changes to promote communication, continuity, and clear task handoffs.
  7. Provide hands-on support for maintenance activities, including corrective mechanical and electrical needs of production and support equipment to maintain operational efficiency and equipment reliability.
  8. Collaborate with technicians to identify root causes of issues and implement effective, long-term solutions.
  9. Perform preventive maintenance on all company equipment and fixtures in accordance with established schedules and standards.
  10. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and operational standards in all maintenance-related areas, including the maintenance shop, mezzanine, compressor rooms, electrical rooms, and work sites.
  11. Promote open communication within the maintenance team by actively sharing knowledge, updates, and best practices across shifts and locations.
  12. Maintain inventory areas cleanliness and organization, as well as accuracy through auditing and holding maintenance staff accountable for charging parts against work orders.
  13. May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires eight (8) years of electro-mechanical experience, or four (4) years of electro-mechanical experience with an associate degree in electro-mechanical technology or similar.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to utilize the English language fluently.
  • Work cohesively with team members to achieve departmental goals.
  • Ability to lead, develop, and support small teams.
  • Manage and complete equipment related projects on time.
  • Possess excellent electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experienced in a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Support leadership in the event of absence.
  • Must be able to communicate and work effectively within maintenance team and with internal customers.
  • Must be familiar with AC and DC circuits, low voltage through 480v three phase power.
  • Office software and computer navigation skills.
  • Must be able to analyze many variables and choose the most effective course of action.
  • Must be able to resolve problems and make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
  • Ability to give, receive and analyze information.
  • Ability to meet deadlines. May be required to work some overtime.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow implicit and explicit written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to use hands for 100% of work time (e.g. wrenches, screw drivers, drills, etc.); and reach above shoulders for 25% of work time.
  • Ability to: stand and walk for 75% of work time; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl for 25% of work time.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds or less 30% of work time, up to 50 pounds or less 15% of work time and up to 75 pounds or less 15% of work time.
  • Ability to: see clearly at 20 inches or less, or 20 feet or more and the ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
  • May lift up to 100 pounds.
