Operations Manager - Flexible Packaging

Make an impact where performance meets innovation. As the Operations Manager for our Flexible Packaging division, you'll provide strategic leadership for manufacturing operations, empowering teams to achieve exceptional results in safety, quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction while driving sustainable business growth.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Responsible to foll Responsible to follow all safety procedures as required by the role, and to nurture a food safety culture by adhering to all Safe Quality Foods requirements.
  2. Maintain and improve our Safety culture by:
    • Communicating Safety performance metrics and plans
    • Ensuring workplace organization and cleanliness are at the highest level
    • Proactive identification and resolution of unsafe or potentially hazardous conditions
  3. Partner with Product Management to set direction for Flexible Packaging business unit over a rolling 3 year timeframe.
  4. Responsible for establishing and achieving financial and performance metrics for the following operations
    • Plant 3 De Pere
    • Plant 2 Web-to-Print®
    • Plant 5 Specialty Finishing
    • Plant 6 Shawano
    • Plant 9 Kentucky
    • Future Flexible Packaging Site(s)
  5. Synchronize plans with Supply Chain, Product Management, Technical, Engineering and Human Resources to meet short and long term customer demand.
  6. Lead employee development and future leader identification in each operation
    • Determine correct manufacturing management structure to support our people
    • Partner with Human Resources to support and refine recruitment of new employees.
    • Ensure each operation has effective onboarding and employee feedback mechanisms.
    • Create career development pathways for all operations so that our people understand future opportunities
  7. Drive standardization across and within all operations.
  8. Establish and execute manufacturing strategies by analyzing data trends for Safety, Thruput, Productivity, Quality, Waste, Operating Costs and Speed.
  9. Identify inefficiencies in all aspects of each operation and lead changes to resolve.
  10. Determine optimal process flows to minimize all forms of waste.
  11. Assure requirements of all regulatory entities (i.e. OSHA, WDNR, EPA) are being met.
  12. Work with company leadership to develop rolling 3 year strategic plan for Pressure Sensitive Labels including:
    • Capital, materials and people
    • Expansion and growth strategies
    • New product line introductions
    • New technology commercialization
  13. Develop and execute annual plans for People, Processes and Technology.
  14. Plan capacity for all converting areas in each operation
    • Understand current capacity, forecasted sales and changes needed to exceed demand
    • Established mechanisms to direct business to the right technology and operation
    • React to unplanned demand surges to best serve our customers
  15. Monitor, investigate and manage technology changes that will benefit the business.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Management, Operations Management, or a related field required.
  • Seven or more years of manufacturing leadership experience in a supervisor, manager, or equivalent operational leadership role.
  • Experience within the Flexible Packaging or converting industry strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, production equipment, and printing processes.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with senior leaders, team members, and customers to achieve business objectives.
  • Demonstrated success resolving complex problems, managing conflict, and making sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, influence, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data, identify opportunities, and implement effective solutions.
  • Experience developing, analyzing, and utilizing performance metrics to drive operational excellence.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; CAD experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents, professional publications, production schedules, engineering drawings, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Effective written, verbal, and reading comprehension skills in English.
  • Extended Domestic and International travel will be required.
  • This is an on-site leadership role requiring a visible presence within the operation and availability outside of standard business hours as needed to support manufacturing operations.
