Internal Communications Specialist (De Pere, WI)

Join us as an Internal Communications Specialist at Belmark!

Are you a master of messaging with a passion for engagement? Belmark is seeking an innovative Internal Communications Specialist to create and execute a comprehensive employee communications strategy that aligns with our mission and culture. In this role, you'll develop and drive company-wide internal communication programs and technologies designed to engage employees effectively.

Your responsibilities will include collaborating with leadership to align messaging, foster employee engagement, and support initiatives related to change management, recruitment, employer branding, and our Ascend leadership programs. A key part of your role will be to convey Belmark’s messaging in a clear, accessible manner that reflects our core values. If you are someone with strong interpersonal skills, the ability to build effective cross-collaborative relationships, and have a knack for engaging employees to align communication with our mission, we want to hear from you!

What will I do in this role?

  • Establish and maintain an internal communications strategy in conjunction with senior managers.
  • Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as Belmark’s internal communication platform (Homebase), message centers or regular email updates. This includes any necessary platform format changes.
  • Responsible to develop, maintain and report measurables related to the utilization of communication platforms, tools, and effectiveness of the communication strategy.
  • Ensure Belmark initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition team to develop communication strategy for recruitment via social and company website including methods to deliver messages, ease of navigation, and clarity of information, ensuring that all content is current and relevant (recruitment/employee).
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition team on recruitment videos and events such as job fairs.
  • Collaborate with other facets of Human Resources to ensure clear, concise communication of employee benefits and development opportunities.
  • Ensure internal communications messages are consistent across all mediums and for different departments of Belmark.
  • Solicit and respond to feedback from employees and adjust communications content accordingly. May assist with executing employee polls and/or surveys.
  • Responsible for the internal communication response to crisis situations which affect Belmark perception and reputation.
  • Continuously manage internal brand consistency in various communication platforms and support initiatives through copywriting and exceptional editing skills.
  • Monitor internal communication platform activity across departments and geographical areas to ensure anyone using the company’s platforms are following established guidelines and best- practice rules.
  • May complete assigned special projects based on business need.
  • Responsible to follow all safety procedures as required by the role, and to nurture a food safety culture by adhering to all Safe Quality Foods requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication or related field; or 5-7 years related experience.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to effectively utilize the English language.
  • Proven comfort with Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Canva and knowledge of common collaborative tools/platforms (Zoom, Teams, Slack).
  • Ability to develop compelling communications that inspire employees to become active brand ambassadors for the company.
  • Ability to succinctly convey complex messages that are professional, consistent and support company mission and brand position.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills. Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to connect dots from plan to execution.
  • Ability to work cross-departmentally to ensure communication is effectively delivered and received through all levels of the organization.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to work with various functional areas to execute both area specific and organization wide communications.
  • Must be able to manage multiple, cross-functional projects with aggressive deadlines as well as just-in-time issues.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidential information appropriately and exercise good judgement.
