External Vendor Brand Manager

Department: Graphics
Location: De Pere, WI

Schedule:

  • Office Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Summary

Provide exceptional service to External Vendors, Brand Managers and Customers who require external resources to on-board their product line to Belmark inc. Must have a comprehensive understanding of the external graphics vendor process, our printing processes and color management and control color from a theoretical and practical standpoint from pre-press through print manufacturing. Must communicate effectively with External Vendors, Customers and internal departments to accurately produce attainable designs that will meet finished product expectations. Must effectively work with regional customer service teams, and sales team to: exceed customer expectations, grow the sales and profitability of assigned sales reps territory, and create perceived value with the Customer and External Vendor experience.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Serve as point of contact for questions regarding External Vendors/Brand projects with Customers, Sales, Customer Service and Manufacturing.
  2. Work with External Vendors, Customers, Customer Service, Sales and Pre-Press to educate them on our color/brand management program and practices.
  3. Understand customer/vendor remote review, proof and approval process (Web Center, Blue, GMI, etc.).
  4. Understand Customer/Vendor Brand management requirements.
  5. Document discussions and requests regarding projects.
  6. Understand all industry specifications (flexo, offset, digital, rotogravure).
  7. Understand Belmark manufacturing capabilities (flexo, offset, digital, etc.).
  8. Understand press specifications and tolerances.
  9. Understand how press specifications and tolerances are applied to file work and how design options are applied to files to provide optimal file output and consistency based on those specifications and tolerances.
  10. Understand color theory and the press characterization process and how files are built to proper file requirements based on the approved customer model (template/material).
  11. Understand how design options are applied to files to provide optimal file output and how to apply to templates/die lines.
  12. Understand how and why color corrections and adjustments to customer supplied art files are made to ensure a marketable match from proof to final printed product.
  13. Understand workflows and graphic order layout instruction and the sequence of internal operations.
  14. Work with Color Manager to ensure all processes are integrated into new or existing workflows, hardware and software.
  15. Contact customers, designers or external vendors for project clarification, activity and timelines.
  16. Provide information directly to Customers, External Vendors and Sales Representatives regarding Belmark’s printing capabilities.
  17. Responsible for the flow of artwork and Graphic Orders; this includes completing Graphic Orders, Label Pages, Preflight information, etc.
  18. Preflight all customer supplied file design components and on-board them into the operating system. This includes opening customer supplied files, printing file images and determining New/Revised status.
  19. Preflight and evaluate art for printability issues and provide vendors/customers with solutions to resolve design related issues for press and all manufacturing processes.
  20. Establish clear and concise guidelines and instructions for the manufacture of department deliverables (Proofs, tiffs, plates, etc.).
  21. Create design/brand references when applicable.
  22. Review art from Graphics Production when applicable.
  23. Participate in Press Approvals as needed.
  24. Conduct post press reviews of projects when required and support Manufacturing during the production process.
  25. May produce computer label designs according to customer, pre-press and manufacturing specifications.
  26. Coordinate Job Pulls and Internal Change Requests.
  27. Provide ideas and solutions to improve quality, efficiency and productivity. Help improve current procedures, develop new procedures and internal data storage updates as needed.
  28. Work with manufacturing to ensure color management practices and standardized processes are understood and followed.
  29. Interact with management, sales, customer service, manufacturing and graphics personnel on an on-going basis.
  30. Make personnel recommendations and perform performance reviews. Accountable for attendance records, scheduling vacations, time record accuracy and pay recommendations.
  31. Assist in department budgeting, planning and staffing decisions.
  32. Cooperatively work with Regional Customer Service teams. Actively contribute and implement best practices and continuous process improvement initiatives.
  33. Participate in management training, conferences, and occasional travel with Sales Representatives and Regional Sales Managers.
  34. May be required to travel to customers for training, education and gathering data.
  35. May be required to do internal or external presentations regarding color management practices.
  36. May generate and output proofs and verify for accuracy.
  37. Responsible to follow all safety procedures as required by the role, and to nurture a food safety culture by adhering to all Safe Quality Foods requirements.
  38. May perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  1. Ability to effectively utilize (writing, speaking, reading) the English language.
  2. Working knowledge of a variety of applicable software applications (Illustrator, Photoshop, Quark, In-Design, etc.).
  3. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, decimals and fractions.
  4. Ability to operate a Mac computer.
  5. Ability to operate a variety of standard office equipment.
  6. Ability to type accurately and neatly.
  7. Ability to meet and exceed deadlines.
  8. Ability to read, comprehend and follow detailed written and oral instructions.
  9. Must be able to communicate and answer questions in a professional and friendly manner.
  10. Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure.
  11. Ability to give, receive and analyze information.
  12. Requires education as is generally acquired with a Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Arts/Communication or 5 years relevant work experience.
  13. Ability to: stand for 25% of work time, walk 25% of work time and sit for 50% of work time.
  14. Ability to: use hands 100% of work time; reach above shoulders 30% of work time; and lift up to 25 pounds or less for 25% of work time.
  15. Ability to: see clearly at 20 inches or less; identify and distinguish colors; adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
  16. May require some overnight travel.
